Agreement
By creating an account, accessing Mellio, or using Mellio with the R package, you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Responsible Use guidance. Please use Mellio only if these terms and policies work for you. If you have questions before creating an account or continuing to use Mellio, contact hello@mellioapp.com.
What Mellio is
Mellio is software for research workflows involving statistical results, tables, figures, browser-based analysis, saved research libraries, and handoffs from R. Mellio is operated from Canada and is currently a beta product. Features may change, be incomplete, or behave differently across browsers, datasets, package versions, and workflows.
Research responsibility
Mellio supports researcher judgment; it does not replace it. You are responsible for choosing appropriate analyses, checking assumptions, verifying outputs, reviewing generated tables and figures, and deciding what is suitable for publication or use outside Mellio.
Do not rely on Mellio as the sole basis for clinical, legal, financial, safety, policy, or other high-stakes decisions. Before using Mellio outputs in a manuscript, report, presentation, decision, or public claim, verify them against your data, analysis plan, source code, and field-specific standards.
Accounts and security
- You must provide accurate account information and keep your credentials secure.
- You are responsible for activity under your account.
- You must not share accounts, bypass access controls, interfere with the service, or attempt unauthorized access to Mellio systems or other users' data.
- Mellio may suspend or terminate access if an account appears compromised, abusive, unlawful, or in violation of these Terms.
Your content
You keep ownership of data, tables, figures, result cards, notes, and other content you create or import into Mellio. You grant Mellio the limited permission needed to provide the service, including displaying, saving, syncing, exporting, formatting, backing up, and deleting your content at your direction.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to upload, paste, save, sync, or process any content you use with Mellio. Do not use Mellio for data that your institution, funder, contract, law, or ethics approval does not permit you to process in this way.
Local storage, sync, and backups
Mellio is local-first. If sync is off, your saved work stays in browser storage on one device and may be lost if that storage is cleared or the device is unavailable. You are responsible for exporting or backing up local-only work. If sync is on, selected saved work can be backed up to your Mellio account as described in the Privacy Policy.
Mellio also processes limited account, session, security, product-event, and server-backed request data as described in the Privacy Policy. Product events are used for launch diagnostics and reliability, not to record raw data, variable names, or analysis results.
R package and URL handoffs
The Mellio R package can send supported R objects to the web app through URL-fragment handoffs. Generated R handoff URLs are for opening your result in your browser. They are not public by default, but anyone you send the full URL to may be able to open the same result.
Acceptable use
- Do not use Mellio to violate law, privacy rights, intellectual-property rights, institutional rules, or research ethics obligations.
- Do not upload, sync, or process malicious code, unlawful content, or content you do not have permission to use.
- Do not attempt to reverse engineer server-side functionality, overload the service, scrape protected endpoints, or evade security controls.
- Do not misrepresent Mellio outputs as independently verified facts when you have not reviewed them.
Mellio intellectual property
Mellio, its interface, proprietary formatting logic, product design, documentation, and related materials are owned by Mellio or its licensors. These Terms do not transfer ownership of Mellio software or intellectual property to you. Open-source components and the public R package remain governed by their own licenses where applicable.
Availability and changes
Mellio may change, suspend, or discontinue features, routes, integrations, or beta access. Mellio may update these Terms as the service changes. If the Terms change materially, Mellio will update the effective date and provide notice where appropriate. Continuing to use Mellio after an update means you accept the updated Terms.
Disclaimers
Mellio is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mellio disclaims warranties of accuracy, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted availability, and error-free operation.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mellio will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, publication errors, research conclusions, or decisions made using Mellio outputs. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some limitations may not apply to you.
